Environment Fund Wind Farm Maasvlakte 2 supports community initiatives

With the arrival of Windpark Maasvlakte 2, Eneco has established the Maasvlakte 2 Windpark fund. This fund aims to give a boost to nature, liveability or business activity in the vicinity of the wind farm. In three rounds, organisations could apply for a contribution from the fund during and shortly after construction. And many did! A wide variety of projects were assessed by Eneco and Rijkswaterstaat against the criteria set for the fund. Wonderful social initiatives have since received or been promised a contribution.

Some examples:
  • Foundation Avavieren in 's Gravenzande replaced the batteries of their beach vehicle with a contribution from the fund. With this vehicle, the beach caterpillar, three wheelchairs or eight people can take a beautiful beach ride. With the new batteries, they can again take many unforgettable rides.

 

  • With the contribution, Natuurvereniging Hollandse Delta is working to bring back the Veldgentiaan in De Kleine Heveringen, part of the Voornes Duin nature reserve. To this end, they are carrying out a number of specialist management measures in the area to ensure that the Veldgentiaan can return to the area. A nice step to restore biodiversity.

 

  • The Reddingsbrigade Rockanje has used the contribution from the fund to purchase a rescue combination. They will use this combination of an electric beach rescue vehicle and a rescue water scooter for the safety of recreationists at the Haringvliet estuary.

 

  • Brielsch Collectief Foundation brings together people with musical passion. With the contribution from the fund, the collective has built a number of studios to help young talents with their musical development.
