Borssele III/IV Wind Farm
The Borssele III & IV wind farm is located approximately 55 km from the Dutch port of Vlissingen and has been fully operational since the beginning of 2021. The wind farm was built by the Blauwwind consortium, whose shareholders are Partners Group, Shell, Eneco, DGE and Van Oord. The unique thing about this project is that the power was already almost sold out before construction started. An enormous impulse for the further sustainability of the Netherlands.
Construction
Despite the restrictions due to COVID-19 in 2020, construction has continued as planned. The project was delivered on-time and on-budget in January 2021. Eneco buys half of all generated electricity. The total power generation of Borssele III/IV is comparable to the average annual power consumption of all households in Amsterdam.Eneco is also responsible for the daily maintenance and operation of the park, via an Asset Management and Services Agreement.
Cooperation with partners
The wind power is supplied to, among others, Royal DSM, Microsoft Netherlands, Royal Schiphol Group and Stedin. This enables these companies to reduce their CO₂ footprint.Watch the film to find out why these sustainable partners have opted for a partnership with Eneco.
