Ready for the energy transition with our sustainability game

The energy transition is unstoppable. Through educational programmes, including a sustainability game, Eneco prepares young people for a world of green energy—a world where the younger generation will continue the energy transition. With this educational and competitive energy game, we remain committed to a cleaner world, both now and in the future. We offer one game aimed at higher education and another for secondary education.

Secondary education: Engagement through the Energy Transition Game

This serious game focuses on sustainability. It’s an ideal way for upper secondary students (havo/vwo) and vocational students (mbo) to experience the energy transition. For havo/vwo students, the topic of sustainability ties into subjects like geography, economics, social studies, technology, and history. For mbo students, it fits with courses where sustainability plays an increasingly important role, from construction to economics, and from engineering to transport. The competitive element and gamification increase student engagement.

During the energy game, students learn:

  • Which players exist in the energy market and what roles they play;
  • What the energy transition is and how it takes shape;
  • How to form strategic partnerships;
  • How to anticipate, invest, and plan.

Students Experience the Complexity of the Energy Transition

With the serious game, "The Newtonian Shift", students experience the complexity of the energy transition. For example, what is the impact of the decisions you make? And how does that impact compare from the perspectives of various stakeholders, such as end-users, energy companies, and tech firms?

About The Newtonian Shift
This educational sustainability game is played in various locations, in groups of around 25 students, and lasts approximately five hours. Check out the game impression on the side or download the information below.
