100th Zowiezon solar roof on Lombardia in Rotterdam
At elementary school Lombardia, the new solar roof was festively put into use on Friday, July 5. The students celebrated together with alderman Chantal Zeegers, school director Janine Hartman, Brigitte Vos, Head of Marketing & Communication Eneco and Foundation School Roof Revolution director Niels van der Sandt. The school roof was fitted with 48 solar panels with the help of Zowiezon, a collaboration between Eneco and the School Roof Revolution Foundation. A great milestone: Lombardia is the hundredth school with a Zowiezon solar roof.
Party at Lombardia: opening of solar roof celebrated
The festive morning started together with all students in the schoolyard. Students from grade 8 performed with an opening dance. After the unveiling of the facade plaque, a student from grade 6 read a poem about solar energy. "While we are learning and playing, solar panels are working for us."The grand opening kicks off the Summer Festival with special activities on the theme of renewable energy.

Sustainable energy in the classroom
Our colleague Ewald Gobind gave sustainable guest lessons at Lombardia last week. The class also used the Zowiezon Toolbox; a package containing specially developed teaching materials about sustainable energy.
Energy from own school roof for three Yulius schools
Three Yulius schools are currently equipped with a total of 154 solar panels with the help of Zowiezon. Besides Lombardia, De Gaard in Spijkenisse has also been equipped with solar panels. The Middelland College in Rotterdam will follow in 2024. Annually, these panels generate a total of approximately 60,000 kWh of electricity. This generates almost all of these schools' own energy consumption.

This almost completes Zowiezon; a total of about 105 schools have free project realization planned.
